Welcome to the official website of Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter located in Houston, Texas, which resides in the sensational South Central Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. With over 80 years of service in Houston and its surrounding communities, our membership is committed to being of service to all mankind.
In continuing “our supreme service to all mankind” our programs mark our commitment to serving the needy. In Education we continue to give scholarships, while offering tutoring, peer support and workshops that range from technology to life skills; along with adopting schools in Houston, while building two schools in Africa. In Cultural Arts we buy out the house at The Ensemble Theatre several months out of the year and give the tickets to students and adults who otherwise could not afford them. Through our Senior Citizens programs, we volunteer at Beale Village and the Hester House. We support families through the YWCA and the Star of Hope. In Health we have volunteered and given gifts to the sick at Riverside, MD Anderson, and Texas Children’s Hospitals. And lastly, we have given financial support to social, civic, and charitable organizations such as the NAACP, UNCF, The Blue Triangle Community Center, Manda Ann Convalescent Home, Depelchin Children’s Center, and many more. We have done so many outstanding things; this incomplete chronicle of what we’ve accomplished has earned Alpha Kappa Omega numerous local, regional and international awards, not only from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., but community groups and organizations, as well as businesses and corporations.
We are dedicated to the success of the sorority’s International Programs, especially current International President Barbara A. McKinzie’s “The Heart of ESP: An Extraordinary Service Program.”
Each and every one of us in this illustrious organization is that rare pearl. It is our hope that this website is informative and will serve as a vehicle to expand and enhance our service to not only you my sister, but to the entire public as well.
Sisterly and Sincerely,

Tamara J. Cubit
President
